How a book gets written here

1

Start with your premise. And your ending.

One idea in, and you decide where it's all going before anything gets drafted. Books that know their ending don't wander.

2

Build the world and the cast.

Places, rules, people — each character with the voice, wants, and secrets you give them. Everything you set here becomes canon: locked, remembered, enforced.

3

Map the plot.

Threads, chapters, scenes — every chapter planned to turn, tension built to escalate. You approve the shape of the whole story before a word of prose exists.

4

Draft, revise, and hold the book in your hands.

Chapter by chapter, your plan becomes prose — and you shape every line, in your voice. When it's done, export a real book: EPUB, print-ready PDF, audiobook.

Yours, start to finish.

Every word you make with Premise belongs to you.

Never used for training.

Your stories train nothing and no one.

Private by default.

Your workspace is yours alone.

Questions

Do I need to know how to write a novel?+

No. Premise walks you through every decision a novelist makes — premise, ending, cast, plot — in plain language, one step at a time. You bring the idea; you make the calls.

Will it sound like AI wrote it?+

Premise enforces the craft rules human editors teach: show don't tell, no clichés, no announcing the theme. Each character keeps the voice you gave them — and your manuscript is watched for its own repeated tics as it grows.

Is it my book, legally and actually?+

Yes. You own every word. Export it, publish it, sell it, put your name on it. Premise never trains on your work.

How much of the writing is mine?+

All of the decisions, and as much of the prose as you want. The story, the ending, the people, what stays and what goes — yours. Every chapter follows the plan you approved, every flag waits for your ruling, and you edit freely at every stage. You're the author. Premise is the memory.

Do I keep ownership of my stories?+

Yes. Your worlds, your stories, your ideas — fully yours. See our Terms for details.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Absolutely. Cancel anytime. Your saved projects remain in your account.

What happens when I hit my monthly book limit?+

Your finished books stay yours forever. New full-book generation resets at the start of your next billing month, or you can upgrade.

How long does a generation take?+

Early stages take under a minute. Bigger stages like plot and chapter maps can take several minutes — leave the tab open and we'll keep working.

Is my writing private?+

Yes. Private by default, never used to train AI. See our Privacy Policy.

Is Premise only for novelists?+

No. Writers, creators, students, game designers, filmmakers, and beginners all use Premise.

Will AI replace my voice?+

No. Premise is assistive by design — you stay in control of tone, style, and final choices.

The story's already in your head.
